RUSA announces new vice-president/president-elect, Alesia McManus

CHICAGO — Alesia McManus, director of the Howard Community College Library, Columbia, Maryland, has been elected the 2015-2016 RUSA’s new vice-president/president-Elect.
“For 20+ years, I have enthusiastically provided direction and leadership, through team-building, strategic planning and effective budget management, for all library services. I am proud to state that in a variety of library environments, I have always striven to create user-centered services that focused on life-long learning opportunities for our users. Because of my focused leadership on serving library users, my current library, Howard Community College Library is recognized as one of the top five student services on campus and has been rated number one by the student body for the past two years running.”
Prior to her current position, McManus was head of Research and Instructional Services at Binghamton University from 2006-2010. McManus is no stranger to RUSA. Highlights of her professional service to RUSA include serving on the RUSA Board as a director-at-large, serving as RUSA representative to the 91´«Ã½ Legislation Assembly and chairing the Task Force on Legislative Issues, as well as serving in multiple roles within ET (formally MARS) including member-at-large, Web coordinator and co-chair of the MARS/RSS Pre-conference Planning Committee.
McManus becomes RUSA’s new vice-president/president-elect immediately and will assume the RUSA presidency in June 2016 for one year.
Also on the ballot were RUSA members Mary Parker, associate director, Minitex, Minneapolis, and Aaron Dobbs, scholarly communication and electronic resource development librarian at Shippensburg University of Pennsylvania, Shippensburg, Pennsylvania.
RUSA thanks all the candidates who stood for election, as well as all the members who voted. Their efforts to impact and enhance RUSA are extremely valuable to the future of the organization.
