CHICAGO — 91´«Ã½ Editions announces an exciting new workshop, with Amy Alessio. This workshop will last 90 minutes and take place at 2:30 p.m. Eastern/1:30 p.m. Central on Wednesday, June 18, 2014.

Adults are core patrons for any public library, and book programs are among the most popular library programs. In this workshop, Amy Alessio will show you how to improve the book programs you already have for adults or build new ones from scratch. She’ll cover programs for both high and low-tech users and a variety of themes and library settings.

Topics include:

  • understanding popular current book and programming trends;
  • adjusting ideas to different library settings and online platforms;
  • theme ideas for book events with accompanying booklists;
  • steps for putting together presentations and programs quickly.

About the Instructor

Amy J. Alessio is the teen coordinator at Schaumburg Township District Library in Illinois. She writes and edits fiction and nonfiction, including the book "A Year of Programs for Teens," co-authored with Kim Patton. She also reviews young adult literature and mysteries for Crimespree Magazine and . Alessio served two terms on the YALSA Board of Directors and was honored in 2006 with the Illinois Library Association Davis Cup Award for librarians serving youth. She is passionate about cookbooks and writes about them on her .
