CHICAGO — “Here There Be Dragons: Public Access to Federally Funded Research,” a Midwinter Symposium from the Association for Library Collections and Technical Services (ALCTS) offers an unique opportunity to explore the complex issues surrounding the collection, organization, delivery and preservation of federally funded research.

In February 2013, the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy issued a memorandum directing Federal agencies to expand public access to the results of taxpayer-funded research. Several means of addressing this mandate, including CHORUS (offered by the Association of American Publishers) and SHARE (offered by the Association of Research Libraries), have been proposed.

Confirmed speakers are: Olivia Madison, professor and dean of the Library Administration, Iowa State University. Additional speakers will be announced in the near future.
