LLAMA webinar will feature Elliott Shore discussing change management

CHICAGO - Change has become a way of life for librarians due to technology and the ever-changing information needs of our users. How do we as library managers and leaders handle change effectively and efficiently for ourselves and those we lead, while ensuring that good communication is maintained throughout the process?
The Library Leadership & Management Association (LLAMA) will present a new webinar, “Leading and Communicating Change,” from 1:30 to 3 p.m. Central time on Monday, May 20, 2013.
Presenter Elliott Shore is executive director of the Association of Research Libraries (ARL). He is a nationally recognized figure with many years of experience as a library administrator, author and speaker. He will discuss change management with a focus on leadership and communication.
Participants will learn:
• How to identify types of organizational changes in the workplace;
• The significance of models of change management;
• When to utilize the models to lead change;
• How to determine the skills necessary for effectively managing change.
This webinar is sponsored by the Organizational Theory and Practice Committee of LLAMA’s Library Organization and Management Section (LOMS).
Webinar participants will receive a take-away bibliography of further readings. A follow-up discussion forum will be held at 91´«Ã½ Annual Conference 2013 in Chicago sponsored by the LLAMA/LOMS Organizational Theory and Practice Committee.
