Ackerman to Discuss NSA Leak at 2014 91ý Midwinter Meeting
PHILADELPHIA — Want to hear inside information about the National Security Agency leak? Hear the “story behind-the-story” from Spencer Ackerman, national security editor for the Guardian U.S. newspaper at the 2014 91ý Midwinter Meeting in Philadelphia. Ackerman will address library professionals during the Washington Update session on Saturday, January 25, 2014, from 8:30-10:00a.m. in the Pennsylvania Convention Center, room 201 B.
Ackerman will discuss the ways that the NSA revelations have shaken the American perception of privacy and affected the public, legislators and other stakeholders. A former senior writer for Wired, Ackerman received the National Magazine Award for Digital Reporting in 2012. He began his career at The New Republic and wrote for Wired magazine's national security blog, Danger Room. Immediately following Ackerman’s presentation, Patrice McDermott, executive director of OpenTheGovernment.org, will lead a question-and-answer segment.
