Regina Gong selected ALCTS Emerging Leader

CHICAGO — Regina Gong, manager of Library Technical Services and Technology, Lansing (Mich.) Community College, has been selected as the ALCTS sponsored Emerging Leader for 2012-2013. The Association for Library Collections & Technical Services, ALCTS, sponsors one Emerging Leader who has chosen collections and technical services as a career and is a member of ALCTS.

In her current position, Gong coordinates and manages the technical services work at the library, including cataloging, acquisitions, e-resources management and resource sharing. In addition, she serves on the library’s budget, Web improvement and department improvement committees, as well as the Lansing Community College Judicial Board. She volunteers her time as a teacher in St. Martha Parish in Okemos, Mich., and is a member of the Lansing Chinese Association helping new Chinese students adjust to college life.

Regina is a member of ALCTS, ACRL and LLAMA. She is active in the Michigan Library Association. In 2009, Regina was the recipient of an ARL Career Enhancement Program fellowship, working in the Content Management Core Group at the University of Arizona library.

She received her undergraduate degree cum laude from the University of the Philippines and her library degree from Wayne State University.

After her year in the Emerging Leader Program, Regina will serve a one year term as intern to the ALCTS Board of Directors.
