91´«Ã½

CHICAGO — The 91´«Ã½ (91´«Ã½) is accepting applications for EBSCO-sponsored scholarships to librarians who wish to attend 91´«Ã½'s Midwinter Meeting and Annual Conference.

The scholarships are given annually to allow more librarians access to the professional development and networking opportunities that an 91´«Ã½ conference offers.

Submissions are open for the 2020 EBSCO Midwinter Meeting Scholarship. EBSCO provides up to $1,500 to defray the costs of travel and other expenses to the 91´«Ã½’s Midwinter Meeting, which will be held Jan. 24-28 in Philadelphia..

The five midwinter scholarships will be awarded to librarians responding to the following essay question: What do you think the biggest factors for change will be as libraries expand into non-traditional areas of service, introduce new technologies and endeavor to support their changing research communities?

An 91´«Ã½-designated jury selects the winners based on their 250-word responses. Winners, jury members and 91´«Ã½ representatives are invited to a Scholarship Winners Breakfast that EBSCO hosts during the conference.

Julius C. Jefferson Jr, past EBSCO jury chair and 91´«Ã½ president-elect, said, “EBSCO has been a great partner and supporter of encouraging professional development. In a time of tight budgets and competing priorities, the EBSCO scholarship will provide selected 91´«Ã½ members the funds necessary to attend conference and strengthen their professional skill sets through both content, networking and the opportunity to experience the value of 91´«Ã½ membership by participating in one of the most exciting and engaging library conferences, in the world.”

Midwinter submissions are due Nov. 8, 2019. Information about how to submit essays is available at: .

In addition, seven Annual Conference scholarships will be awarded to librarians responding to the following essay question: How will attending this 91´«Ã½ Conference contribute to my professional development?
