Mary Beth Weber appointed new LRTS editor

CHICAGO — The Board of Directors of the Association for Library Collections & Technical Services (ALCTS) has approved the appointment of Mary Beth Weber as the new editor of (LRTS). Ms. Weber’s term will begin July 1, 2012 as editor designate working with the current editor Peggy Johnson through the end of December and continue through December, 2016.

Mary Beth is head, central technical services, at Rutgers University Libraries. She has been a member of ALCTS since 1986 and from 2004-2010 served as the editor for ALCTS Newsletter Online (ANO). Mary Beth is currently the chair of the ALCTS Advocacy Task Force. Previously she has served on the LRTS editorial Board, the ALCTS Board of Directors, the ALCTS membership committee, and the ALCTS publications committee. Most recently she chaired the ALCTS Outstanding Publication Award jury. She is the author of four books and many peer-reviewed articles. She has numerous presentations, including moderating a recent ALCTS E-forum on “Preparing your library for RDA.”

At Rutgers, Weber is co-chair of the E-books working group, chair of the metadata working group and member of the cyberinfrastructure steering committee and the RUresearch team.

According to Tim Strawn, chair of the search committee, “Ms. Weber has demonstrated, through her many contributions, in her written work, and with her understanding of ALCTS, that she has the vision, demonstrated editorial skills and awareness of our field and its expression in our official publication to lead LRTS forward successfully.”
