CHICAGO – Are your library shelves groaning under the weight of a heavy collection? Do you have a litany of excuses to keep a title, even if it is outdated or under circulated? Then it might be time to register for the upcoming, hour-long webinar from the Public Library Association (PLA) — —at 1 p.m. Central on Aug. 27.

Presenters Holly Hibner and Mary Kelly, the engaging pair behind the blog “Awful Library Books” will discuss weeding techniques, collection management policies and how to motivate reluctant weeders—all with their trademark sense of humor and encouragement. Attendees will identify their own and others’ contributions to the collection life cycle in their library; defend weeding as essential to collection quality; be able to articulate how their library’s collection helps achieve their library’s mission; and know how to create a collection management plan for their organization,

The cost to attend is $28 (PLA Members), $31.50 (91´«Ã½ Members) and $35 (Nonmembers). Groups of any size can register for $129. The registration deadline is 11:59 p.m. Central on Monday, Aug. 25.
