CHICAGO — The Kentucky Supreme Court issued a decision Friday that it will no longer hear arguments in the 2012 lawsuit objecting to Campbell and Kenton County libraries’ tax rates. At that time, Kentucky Circuit Courts ruled against the Campbell County Public Library and the Kenton County Public Library, a decision that would have resulted in the libraries losing property tax revenues dating as far back as 1979. This ruling follows a March 2015 decision where the Kentucky Court of Appeals ruled in favor of Campbell and Kenton County public libraries.

The following is a joint statement from 91��ý (91��ý) President Sari Feldman and Public Library Association (PLA) President Vailey Oehlke regarding Friday’s ruling.

“The 91��ý and PLA would like to congratulate the Kentucky Library Association for their tenacious efforts on this case. We are pleased that Kentucky’s Circuit Court and Supreme Court have recognized that library services within Campbell and Kenton Counties, and within the Commonwealth of Kentucky, have been operating in good faith and with the law. Libraries are essential to creating individual opportunity and community progress.”
