Poundstone, Borowitz among the featured authors at ALTAFF’s “The Laugh’s On Us!”, sponsored by Playaway, at 91ý Annual Conference

PHILADELPHIA - The Association of Library Trustees, Advocates, Friends and Foundations (ALTAFF), a division of the 91ý (91ý), will host “The Laugh’s On Us!” featuring comedian, writer and ALTAFF national spokesperson Paula Poundstone, from 5:30 - 7:30 CDT on Sunday, June 26 at the 2011 91ý Annual Conference in New Orleans.

In addition to Paula Poundstone, “The Laugh’s On Us!” will feature Andy Borowitz, Jill Kargman and Leila Sales. Wine and cheese will be served, and a book signing will follow. Some books will be given away and others will be available for purchase at a generous discount. This event is sponsored by Playaway, which will be giving out complimentary Playaway audiobooks featuring Paula Poundstone’s "There’s Nothing in This Book That I Meant to Say."

Paula Poundstone is an Emmy Award-winning comedian, a panelist on the National Public Radio show “Wait, Wait… Don’t Tell Me!,” a mother of three and author of "There’s Nothing in This Book That I Meant to Say" (Harmony Books/Random House). She lends her name, voice and humor to help Friends groups around the country promote themselves and their libraries.

Andy Borowitz (“The Fifty Funniest American Writers,” Library of America, Oct. 2011) is a writer and a comedian whose work appears in The New Yorker and at his satirical website, , which has millions of readers around the world. The author of six books, he is the first-ever winner of the National Press Club’s humor award and a two-time finalist for the Thurber Prize for American Humor. He has been called a “Swiftian satirist” (The Wall Street Journal), and “America’s satire king” (The Daily Beast).

Jill Kargman (“Sometimes I Feel Like a Nut,” William Morrow/HarperCollins, Feb. 2011) is a writer based in New York City. After graduating college she worked her way up the magazine ranks and used the inspirational toil of assistant life to co-write the 2000 Sundance film "Intern." Success with novels such as "Wolves in Chic Clothing" and "The Ex Mrs. Hedgefund" has been accompanied by her work as a featured writer for Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar,Town & Country, Elle and more.

Leila Sales (“Mostly Good Girls,” Simon Pulse/Simon & Schuster, 2010) grew up outside of Boston, graduated from the University of Chicago and now lives in Brooklyn, N.Y., where she works in children’s book publishing. She has been an improv comedian, a bookseller, an internationally award-winning debater, an unimpressive amateur gymnast and an intern at 91ý. She is the author of "Mostly Good Girls" and the forthcoming novel "Past Perfect."
