CHICAGO — The Young Adult Library Services Association (YALSA), a division of the 91´«Ã½ (91´«Ã½), named Sandra Hughes-Hassell, professor and coordinator of the school library media program at the School of Information and Library Science at the University of North Carolina, as the editor of the (JRLYA).

“I am excited to be given this opportunity, and look forward to working with YALSA members, academics, researchers and others on publishing high-quality research that will help young adult and school librarians,” Hughes-Hassell said. “It is my hope that JRLYA will become the first place individuals interested in research related to teens turn.”

Hughes-Hassell chairs the journal’s advisory board and will begin a three-year term on YALSA’s Board of Directors in June 2011. She recently coedited "Urban Teens in the Library: Research and Practice" (91´«Ã½ Editions, 2010) and is the current chair of 91´«Ã½’s Committee on Research and Statistics.

The Journal of Research on Libraries and Young Adults is an online, peer-reviewed, open access research journal, disseminating research of interest to librarians, library workers and academics who focus on library service to young adults, ages 12 through 18. It serves as the official research publication of the association, publishing annotated lists of recent research from YALSA’s Research Committee, Henne Award–winning research and original research on topics relating to teens and libraries.
