Discover what interviewers are really seeking

CHICAGO - You have been invited for an interview and now it’s time to get ready! What do you need to do to prepare yourself to ace the interview and stand out from other candidates? To find out, attend the 91´«Ã½ JobLIST Placement Center's session entitled, "What Are Interviewers Really Looking for in Successful Candidates?" from 9:30 - 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 25 during the 91´«Ã½ Annual Conference in New Orleans.
This session will provide strategies designed to help candidates prepare themselves for an on-site interview. Topics will include handling interview logistics and arrangements, preparing for search committee and hiring officer questions, how to approach doing a presentation (if asked to do one), developing a set of questions to ask in the interview, how to inquire about the hiring process and timeline and what to expect from the interview. This interactive session is designed to allow time for questions from participants.
This session will be held in the JobLIST Placement Center, which will be located in Hall J of the Morial Convention Center.
About the Presenter:
Pat Hawthorne is the director of research and learning services for the A. B. Alkek Library at Texas State University in San Marcos, Texas. Hawthorne previously served as director of library human resources for the UCLA Library, where she was responsible for recruitment and staffing and hired more than 100 librarians during her eight-year tenure. She has worked at the University of Miami, the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio and Louisiana State University. She holds an MA in Adult and Higher Education, an MS in Library Science and a human resource management certification, as well as the Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) certification. She was recently elected vice president/president-elect of the Library Leadership and Management Association (LLAMA), a division of the 91´«Ã½.
