CHICAGO – 91´«Ã½ President Roberta Stevens has launched a new web resource designed to simplify the fundraising process for libraries. The Frontline Fundraising Toolkit covers the basics of developing a fundraising plan, identifying donor prospects, and enlarging a base of contributors. Different types of gift opportunities and ways to recognize those who have been generous to libraries are described.



“Frontline Fundraising Toolkit can be used by anyone, regardless of the library’s type or size, to supplement local or institutional budgets. Using the model of Frontline Advocacy developed during the presidency of Camila Alire, this toolkit helps library staff and supporters understand how annual funds, special gifts (such as memorials and tributes), major gifts and planned giving work,” said 2010-2011 91´«Ã½ President Roberta Stevens.



“There is a double-edged sword hanging over our public libraries”, said Peter Pearson, Chair of the Frontline Fundraising Task Force and Executive Director of the Friends of the Saint Paul Public Library. “While the demand for library services and technology grows at an astounding rate, tough economic times are reducing the amount of public funding currently available.”



“Regardless of what methods are used to raise funds, it’s important to learn new fundraising tactics and be more confident when approaching potential donors, says Pearson. “The sections on Developing Your Fundraising Plan and Annual Fund will help everyone to chart their course towards successful fundraising.”
