COA announces accreditation actions

CHICAGO —The Committee on Accreditation (COA) of the 91´«Ã½ (91´«Ã½) announces accreditation actions taken at the 2011 91´«Ã½ Midwinter Meeting in San Diego.
Initial accreditation status was granted to the following program:
- Master of Library and Information Science offered by St. Catherine University.
The next comprehensive review visit is scheduled to occur in 2017.
Continued accreditation status was granted to the following programs:
- Master of Science in Information Science offered by the University at Albany, State University of New York.
- Master of Science in Library Science offered by Clarion University of Pennsylvania.
- Master of Science in Library and Information Science offered by Drexel University.
- Master of Science in Library and Information Science offered by Simmons College.
- Master of Library and Information Science offered by the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee.
The next comprehensive review visit at each institution is scheduled to occur in 2017.
91´«Ã½ accreditation indicates that the program has undergone a self-evaluation process, has been externally reviewed and meets the Standards for Accreditation of Master’s Programs in Library and Information Studies, established by COA and adopted by 91´«Ã½ Council. COA evaluates each program for conformity to the Standards, which address mission, goals and objectives; curriculum; faculty; students; administration and financial support; and physical resources and facilities.
