Booklist announces prestigious 2010 Top of the List selections

91´«Ã½

CHICAGO - Booklist magazine, the review journal of the 91´«Ã½, has announced its Top of the List winners for 2010. The eight winning titles were chosen from the annual Editors’ Choice selections as the best books and media of 2010.
“What do the editors look for when they’re selecting their top picks? Writing that will last, approaches that are new or edgy, artistic innovation, and creative use of accessible new formats,” says Booklist Editor and Publisher Bill Ott. “If you examine our 2010 selections, you’ll see those qualities reflected in all our choices, from Rebecca Skloot’s 'The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks (winner for adult nonfiction),' which tells the remarkable and previously untold story of a woman who gave the world ‘the first immortal human cells’; through R. A. Spratt’s 'The Adventures of Nanny Piggins' (winner for youth fiction), which reinvents a common theme in children’s literature with great verve and sly humor; to the Oxford Dictionaries Online (winner for reference source), which establishes a model of accessibility, retrieval and interactivity to which all future online dictionaries will be compared.”
The 2010 Booklist Top of the List winners are:
· Adult Fiction - "A Visit from the Goon Squad," by Jennifer Egan (Knopf)
· Adult Nonfiction - "The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks," by Rebecca Skloot (Crown)
· Youth Fiction - "The Adventures of Nanny Piggins," by R. A. Spratt (Little, Brown)
· Youth Nonfiction - "They Called Themselves the K.K.K: The Birth of an American Terrorist Group," by Susan Campbell Bartoletti (Houghton)
· Youth Picture Book - "Nini Lost and Found," by Anita Lobel (Knopf)
· Video - "Appalachia: A History of Mountains and People" (Agee)
· Audio - "The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet’s Nest," by Stieg Larsson; read by Simon Vance (Books on Tape)
