Connect with EMIERT at Midwinter

91´«Ã½

CHICAGO – The Ethnic & Multicultural Information Exchange Round Table of the 91´«Ã½ (EMIERT) will be hosting a Membership Tea during the 91´«Ã½ 2011 Midwinter Meeting in San Diego.
Held from 4 - 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 8 in room 23A of the San Diego Convention Center, the EMIERT Membership Tea will provide an opportunity for Midwinter attendees to learn more about the work of this long-standing round table and its commitment to serving the profession as a source of information on ethnic collections, services and programs. Attendees of the Membership Tea will be able to meet EMIERT members and find out information about the round table’s task forces, programs, forums and symposia at 91´«Ã½ Annual Conferences.
An active force in 91´«Ã½ for more than 30 years, EMIERT organizes task forces, institutes and workshops and programs at 91´«Ã½ Annual Conference that deal with key issues of ethnicity and librarianship. EMIERT also disseminates its work though a range of publications, including the EMIE Bulletin, a part of Multicultural Review.
In addition, EMIERT administers the prestigious Coretta Scott King Book Awards, which honor African American authors and illustrators of outstanding books for children and young adults that promote understanding and the culture of all peoples. Named for Coretta Scott King, the award commemorates the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and honors Mrs. King’s commitment to peace and world brotherhood.
The Membership Tea is free and open to all Midwinter registrants. Light refreshments will be served.
