@ your library.org features author Jennifer Egan, prestigious Magnum Photo Collection, and a history of broadcast news plus more

CHICAGO - Contributor Donna Seaman’s interview with author Jennifer Egan, whose new book, "A Visit with the Goon Squad," has generated a great deal of national attention, and other new posts can be enjoyed on the @ your library website this week. Seaman, who says Egan is a “captivating storyteller and an incisive social observer,” describes the author ‘s fictional works ” as “shaped by her beautifully calibrated lyricism, precise psychology, uncanny insights into cultural trends and keen satire.”

The website provides information and recommended resources that everyone can take advantage of at their local library. Librarians can use and adapt the content for their web sites and publications.

Another post this week focuses on the prestigious Magnum Photo Collection of more than 1,300 boxes of photographic materials that is now open to researchers, students and the public at The University of Texas at Austin. An inventory of the collection can be found . There are 210,000 photos from more than 100 Magnum photographers, such as Robert Capa, Henri Cartier-Bresson, Susan Meiselas and Elliott Erwitt.

Also featured is a story about the history of television network news and the career of Walter Cronkite. It includes a bibliography of titles by the reporters who helped define the news era in the 1960s-1980s. Also on the site are posts on how your library can help your family fight childhood obesity, tips on how to research your family tree, information on how to have a safe summer in the sun and book reviews from Booklist.

@yourlibrary.org is the website for the 91´«Ã½’s public awareness campaign —the Campaign for America’s Libraries, which highlights the value of libraries and librarians and connects people to the free resources at their local library.

Prepared by librarians and other experts, new articles are uploaded regularly with how-tos and tips for parents, job seekers, teenagers, and kids. Recommended resources are linked to the , which provides a list of the nearest libraries where the recommended item can be accessed.
