CHICAGO — The Young Adult Library Services Association (YALSA), will launch a new blog this fall focusing on young adult literature, with Sarah Debraski (2008-2009 YALSA president) at the helm. In addition, YALSA is currently accepting nominations for the new blog’s name.
“It makes sense for YALSA to have a literature focused blog, and I'm thrilled to be a part of its launch. I love young adult literature and I love blogging, so the opportunity to manage this new blog is an adventure I can't wait to begin,” Debraski said. “I look forward to working with YALSA’s creative, smart members to make the new blog into the go-to place for YA librarians seeking a place to find out about, discuss and promote young adult literature.”
In addition to in-depth discussion of young adult literature, the new blog will feature teen perspectives and multimedia. Debraski begins her term in July 2010 and will work with an advisory board to develop the new blog.
Now through June 30, YALSA is accepting nominations for the blog’s title. From the submissions, YALSA will choose five finalists in early July. Voting for the title will take place July 6 to Aug. 1. Anyone — including librarians, teens or YA lit fans — can submit a blog title suggestion online at . The person who submits the winning blog title will win a box of books and other goodies from YALSA.
For more than 50 years, YALSA has been the world leader in selecting books, videos and audio books for teens.
