Symons have proposed a new award to be given by the 91传媒 and administered by the Office for Human Resource Development and Recruitment (HRDR). The proposal was endorsed by the 91传媒 Executive Board at their 2017 Fall meeting and has the consent of Lois Ann GregoryWood. This proposal was presented to SSGC and reviewed by committee members. SSGC has voted to support this proposal and therefore we ask the 91传媒 Council to approve this proposal. (see <a href="http://www.ala.org/aboutala/sites/ala.org.aboutala/files/content/governance/council/council_documents/2018_mw_council_documents/cd_31_Scholarlship_and_Study_Grants_Com_22818_act_FINAL.pdf">2018 Council Document #31</a>)</p> <p>As Lois Ann Gregory-Wood approaches 50 years of service with 91传媒, it is appropriate for 91传媒 to honor her long years of service and her unstinting commitment to the organization we all care for. Lois Ann started at 91传媒 in 1968 working in a variety of 91传媒 units before moving to PLA. For the last 27+ years she has been the 91传媒 Council Secretariat responsible for the work of 91传媒 Council. For hundreds of 91传媒 Council members, past and present, she is the face of 91传媒 Council and governance. We are proposing 鈥淭he Lois Ann Gregory-Wood Fellows鈥 award as a conference scholarship program for mid-career members who are interested in governance to attend a full cycle of 91传媒: a Midwinter and Annual Conference. This program will include a mentor component under the title: Lois Ann Gregory-Wood Supporter. This proposal was endorsed, in concept, by the 91传媒 Executive Board at their Fall 2017 meeting. We also have the consent of Lois Ann Gregory-Wood to proceed with this honor. Further, this proposal fits with the strategic initiative of the Neal presidency to use 91传媒 conference as a learning environment and use the wealth of experience of our members to help engage members into 91传媒 governance. The purpose of the award is to give 91传媒 members who have been working in libraries or who have been library trustees/friends an understanding of 91传媒 governance and to help them engage in the governance of the Association at any level and to ultimately to provide a larger pool of 91传媒 members who are interested in 91传媒 governance. This program gives a jump start by making possible attendance at major professional governance activities within 91传媒.</p> </body> </html></div> </div> Annual <div class="field field--name-field-deadline-application field--type-datetime field--label-inline clearfix"> <div class="field__label">Next Deadline</div> <div class="field__item"><time datetime="2024-10-17T04:59:00Z" class="datetime">October 16, 2024</time> </div> </div> <div class="clearfix text-formatted field field--name-field-instructions field--type-text-long field--label-hidden field__item"> <html><body><p><strong>You must log in with your 91传媒 credentials to access the application.</strong> Please complete the online <a href="https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/9GBMW7M">application</a>.</p> </body> </html></div> <html><body><p>One to two fellows will be given stipends of $2,500 to offset the costs of attending 91传媒's conferences.</p> </body> <div class="clearfix text-formatted field field--name-field-notification field--type-text-long field--label-inline"> <div class="field__label">Notification</div> <div class="field__item"> <html><body><p>The individual selected for the award will be notified by the end of October.</p> </body> </html></div> </div> <div class="inline-block mr-[1.125rem] mb-5 py-[1.125rem] font-urw text-xs rounded-lg bg-transparent text-[#101828] font-bold uppercase"><div id="taxonomy-term-459" class="taxonomy-term vocabulary-ala-units"> <div class="content"> <div class="my-[1.25rem]"> <a href="/"> <img loading="lazy" src="/sites/default/files/styles/list_item_180w/public/news/news/pressreleaseimages/american-library-association-ala-logo-vector_2.png?itok=JYYQ4EU4" width="180" height="100" alt="91传媒 91传媒" class="image-style-list-item-180w"> </a> </div> </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field--name-field-date-began field--type-yearonly field--label-above"> <div class="field__label">Date Began</div> <div class="field__item">2019</div> </div> <html><body><p>A mid-career conference scholarship program to give 91传媒 members who have been working in libraries or who have been library trustees/friends an understanding of 91传媒 governance and to help them engage in the governance of the Association at any level. He is considered one of the most important contributors to the development of sequential art (a term he coined) and is known for the cartooning studio he founded; for his highly influential comic series, The Spirit; for his use of comics as an instructional medium; for his leading role in establishing the graphic novel as a form of literature with his 1978 groundbreaking graphic novel, A Contract with God and Other Tenement Stories; for his 20 years of teaching at the School of Visual Arts, leading to his three textbooks. In a career that spanned nearly seven decades鈥攆rom the dawn of the comic book to the advent of digital comics鈥擶ill Eisner was truly the 鈥淔ather of the Graphic Novel.鈥</p> </body> </html></html> Wed, 21 May 2014 19:46:42 +0000 CCARRAZCO 18174 at BRASS Business Expert Press Award for Academic Business Librarians /grants/brass-business-expert-press-award-academic-business-librarians <span class="field field--name-title field--type-string field--label-hidden">BRASS Business Expert Press Award for Academic Business Librarians</span> <span class="field field--name-uid field--type-entity-reference field--label-hidden"><span>LWOOD</span></span> <span class="field field--name-created field--type-created field--label-hidden"><time datetime="2013-04-01T12:23:13-05:00" title="Monday, April 1, 2013 - 12:23" class="datetime">Mon, 04/01/2013 - 12:23</time> </span> <div class="field field--name-field-name field--type-string field--label-above"> <div class="field__label">Name Sort</div> <div class="field__item">BRASS Business Expert Press Award for Academic Business Librarians</div> </div> <div class="field field--name-field-opportunity-type field--type-entity-reference field--label-above"> <div class="field__label">Opportunity Type</div> <div class="field__item"><a href="/award-type/grnt" hreflang="en">Grants</a></div> </div> <a href="/taxonomy/term/789" hreflang="en">Publications, Research &amp; Travel</a> <div class="field field--name-field-history-description field--type-text-long field--label-above"> <h2 class="field__label">About</h2> <div class="field__item text-[1.125em]"> <html><body><p>Sponsorship withdrawn and award terminated in 2014.</p> </body> </html></div> </div> Annual <div class="field field--name-field-deadline-application field--type-datetime field--label-inline clearfix"> <div class="field__label">Next Deadline</div> <div class="field__item"><time datetime="2013-01-16T00:00:00Z" class="datetime">January 15, 2013</time> </div> </div> <div class="clearfix text-formatted field field--name-field-eligibility field--type-text-long field--label-above"> <div class="field__label">Eligibility</div> <div class="field__item"> <html><body><p>The winner does not need to be a member of 91传媒, RUSA, or BRASS but preference will be given to those that are, indeed members.
