The Minutes for STARS Executive Committee 91ý Midwinter Meeting I were approved. The Minutes from the All STARS Meeting were reviewed. The Minutes for STARS Executive Committee 91ý Midwinter Meeting II were approved, pending minor revisions recently suggested via email. 2. STARS Awards. There are currently three awards associated with STARS: the Boucher Award; the Mentoring Award (Education and Training Committee); and the proposed Distinguished Research in Resource Sharing Award (Research and Statistics Committee). Exec discussed the pros and cons of having a single awards committee review nominations for all awards, or of having different groups identify each years recipient for each award. T. Schneiter will check to see how similar situations are handled in other 91ý groups. A. Beaubien will work with the Research and Statistics Committee to help them develop the proposal for the award they are planning. 3. RUSA Committee Members. March 1 is the deadline to reply to RUSA with nominations of STARS members to various RUSA committees. There was no response following the initial STARS-L request. Exec discussed several options for identifying nominees. Actions will include: sending another call for nominees to STARS-L; investigating the possibility of sending personal emails to all STARS members (not all have signed up for STARS-L); and investigating the possibility of automatic enrollment of all STARS members in STARS-L as there is a perception than the sign-up procedure is a barrier (only about one sixth of STARS members have joined STARS-L). 4. 2008 STARS Programs at 91ý Annual. STARS has two programs slots at the annual conference. The program proposed y the Research and Statistics Committee has been approved. STARS Exec has learned of two more programs in the pre-proposal stage. The discussion focused on how to guide committees in proposal preparation; whether to require more formal applications in the future; and how STARS Exec should review proposals for program approval. This would be a good topic to include in the new chairs orientation. Information should also be included in the STARS Handbook. Exec agreed that proposals should follow the RUSA program proposal guidelines. T. Wray will work with the two committee chairs who have suggested programs to help them prepare formal proposals. 5. Conference Call Schedule.
